Great Plains Nature Center

The Great Plains Nature Center provides opportunities to investigate, understand and develop an appreciation for the indigenous wildlife of Kansas by visiting this 240-acre park teeming with all species of creatures in their natural habitat. Inside you can explore a 2,200 gallon aquarium and other educational programs when you visit this amazing center. Day camps and school trips are encouraged as part of the ongoing educational efforts of the center’s mission. Additionally, you'll get to experience more than two miles of trails through a riparian woodlands, prairies, streams and wetlands.

Kansas Aviation Museum

The Kansas Aviation Museum sits appropriately on the site of the original Wichita municipal airport terminal. The museum contains an extensive display of airplanes, most notably a Beech Starship, a Boeing B-52 Stratofortress, a 1934 Stearman Trainer, the Boeing model 717, a KC 135E refueling tanker, and a 1927 Swallow. Other important aeronautic artifacts reflecting Kansas’ rich aviation heritage and an archive estimated at over 200,000 items is also located at this unique testament to Wichita’s participation in the aeronautics revolution.

Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center

See the actual Apollo 13 command module and many other historic artifacts associated with the United States and Soviet space programs. The Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center was named one of the first affiliates of the Smithsonian Institution for its innovation and dynamic education programs. Be sure to touch the sky in the Justice Planetarium; visit the lab of Dr. Goddard, the father of modern rocketry; and don’t miss a film presentation in Kansas’ only IMAX Dome Theater.

Museum of World Treasures

This world-class museum cradles over 10,000 treasures including ten huge dinosaurs and two Royal Egyptian Mummies. Other amazing artifacts can be found in the Treasures of Ancient Civilizations exhibit, Hall of European Royalty, Hall of American Presidents, Civil War and WW II exhibits and the Sports Hall of Fame.

Old Cowtown Museum

Dig in your spurs at this living history museum replicating America's most authentic "Old West" town complete with dusty streets, historic buildings, artifacts, live animals and interaction with costumed reenactors.
